Business Console Customer Expands Unify-based Application into New Bank Branches
Unify closed a large sale of its data management and application development software to a major Russian commercial bank with its Russian partner Business Console. The bank migrated its existing Unify software based application to a new hardware platform, which will now be deployed to hundreds of new bank branches. The bank was able to migrate the Unify-based application to the new hardware platform in a cost effective manner as a result of Unify’s ongoing commitment to keep its software modern and easy to deploy. The product value of this deal to Unify is approximately $800,000, which was recognized in the Company’s third quarter ended January 31, 2008.

“Our customers are secure in building a long-term strategy based on Unify products,” said Anatoly Belychook, president of Business Console. “The design and robustness of Unify software products makes it ideal to be used in mission-critical applications years after the software was originally released. Unify has proven to be extremely customer-focused and flexible, which is very compelling to our customer base.”

“This win demonstrates the strength of our core software business and our commitment to keeping our software modern and adaptable. The bank had the option to replace the Unify- based application, but instead chose to stay with the Unify solution, and in fact, expand the footprint of our products within its organization,” said Todd Wille, CEO of Unify. “Business Console is a strong Unify partner, and with our recently expanded product portfolio, we are working closely to expand our business and partner channel within Russia. We look forward to continued growth and success that benefits both companies.”

Team Developer 5.1 Service Pack 2 Update
Many Team Developer customers have successfully migrated their applications to Team Developer 5.1. Some customers that use direct access to the Windows API to manipulate menus and do other things with the Windows API are seeing that parts of their access to Windows API does not work anymore. Unify has reviewed a large number of customer applications that use direct access to the Windows API to verify the problem and more importantly, to find a solution for the problem. We are currently in the phase of testing the solution that will be made available with Service Pack 2 scheduled for release in March. Stay tuned. We will let you know when Team Developer 5.1 SP2 is available.

If you have not downloaded Team Developer 5.1 or the new Service Pack 1 yet, go ahead and try it now: Download Team Developer 5.1 and Service Pack 1

Your input on how we can enhance our products is important to us. Please report any problems you find in Team Developer 5.1 to the Unify Team Developer 5.1 forum.

Migrating Lotus Notes to .NET with Composer
Most company's business objectives for transitioning legacy applications to a modern platform can be best achieved with a migration strategy. Migration offers a lower cost and faster approach that also preserves business functionality and minimizes the disruption to the business. In the case of migrating Lotus Notes applications with Composer, this time is reduced significantly. Unify works with a customer to determine the greatest number of applications that can be migrated in order to minimize the costs and time of moving the applications to the .NET platform. With the Composer solution, Unify engages in fix fee/fix scope, software plus services engagement. The engagement starts with a Discovery where Unify works with the customer to understand the key objectives for their application migration to .NET. The business justification and metrics for the objectives are identified as part of the process. In order to be held accountable by our clients, it’s imperative that the customer’s primary objectives for their Notes application migration project are identified. With a clear set of prioritized objectives, the challenge of what to migrate, how to migrate, and where to migrate within the Microsoft stack becomes much clearer. For more information on migrating Lotus Notes workflow, transactional applications to .NET, download our white paper or email composer@unify.com.
